New Cedarhome principal selected for 2022-23
Kimberly Caldwell has been selected as the new principal of Cedarhome Elementary, Stanwood-Camano School District Superintendent Dr. Deborah Rumbaugh announced. The appointment is effective July 1, 2022.
Caldwell is currently the principal of Lakewood Elementary in the Lakewood School District, where she has served since 2018.
“We are excited to have Kimberly join our Stanwood-Camano team and the Cedarhome community,” Rumbaugh said. “We are impressed with her positive attitude, her leadership skills and experience building relationships with students, families and staff.”
The process for selecting a new Cedarhome principal included surveys of families and staff on the characteristics and traits sought in a new building leader. Staff and families were included on the interview team and finalists were presented at a community meeting on March 23.
Before joining Lakewood four years ago, Caldwell was an assistant principal in the Arlington School District for three years. She previously served as a teacher, instructional coach and principal intern in the Kelso School District.
Caldwell received a BA in Elementary Education and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Washington State University and her administrative credential from Concordia University. Caldwell is currently a doctoral student at Washington State University.
She will succeed Jeff Lofgren, who is retiring at the end of the current school year after 24 years as Cedarhome principal.
