Welcome
back!I hope you had a wonderful
summer.What great weather to be
outdoors and enjoying camping, picnics, family reunions and other activities. We are so excited about our 13th
year together at Cedarhome Elementary. It is really hard to believe how fast time has gone by since we opened
in 1997, yet the excitement about beginning a new year is just as high as when
we first opened our doors. We look
forward to seeing all the great kids that attend Cedarhome Elementary. We especially want to welcome our new
students who will be attending Cedarhome for the first time.We think you will find our school
inviting, positive and a great place to learn.
We’ve
had a few staff changes from last year.Ms. Asletine and Mrs. Johnson switched teaching assignments with Ms.
Aseltine going to fifth grade and Mrs. Johnson to second grade.Nikki Tepley has been hired to
job-share with Mrs. Rawls in first grade.Miss Tepley will replace Mrs. Hanseth while she is out this year on
maternity leave.Alyssa Fugier
will continue to teach third grade, replacing Mrs. Wilfong who is taking a
year’s leave of absence.Mrs.
Follette returns to teach fourth grade.Mrs Mendez will be teaching our fourth session of kindergarten.
If
you have driven by the school lately, you’ve seen the construction that is
taking place.By the time it is
all complete (hopefully by the end of October), we will have new entrance that
is more aligned with 280th.The small road running in front of the school will be widened and open
for traffic to access the housing development and our school.A map of the planned construction can
be found on our district website: www.stanwood.wednet.edu.With this construction will come
changes to our bus route into the school as well as the pick up and drop off
zone.It is our hope that during
the first phase of construction, drop-offs and pick-ups will remain the
same.During phase two, drop-offs
and pick-ups will be routed around the back of the building. We will keep you informed of any
changes to the plan as it now.The
safety of our students is our utmost concern.Your cooperation with the changes is greatly appreciated as
we work out the kinks in our plan.
We
are very excited about the 2009-10 school year.We have got some great things planned for our students and
for parents to be involved in. We hope you are able to volunteer during the
year.Volunteering is a wonderful
way to not only help out in a classroom or other capacity, but it allows you to
get a sense and feel for Cedarhome. Please take advantage of our district and school websites as you will
find a great deal of useful information there. Our school website can be found
within the district website or follow this link: http://cesweb.stanwood.wednet.edu/
you will find information about our activities, events, etc.You can access a copy of our Student
Handbook on our website.There you
will find useful information about our school and our policies that will be
helpful for you and your student(s).
